Relative Respite

Formerly known as Grand Time Off, Relative Respite is a program designed specifically for grandparents or other relatives who are providing care to a child under the age of 18.  Funded through the state Division of Services for Aging and Adults with Physical Disabilities, the goal of the program is to provide relief to those relatives through small grants that help them fund respite care.  For information on what respite is and how to use it, check out the answers to our most Frequently Asked Questions.

To qualify for respite funds, grandparents and relatives (not parents) must be:

  • Over the age of 55 and caring for a child 17 or younger

  • Responsible for a majority of the child’s care

  • Related to the child by blood, marriage, or adoption

  • Living in Delaware
